Alright, I just got the software to work that allows us to blog. Both that and the Internet access seem pretty spotty. We may not be able to post every day.
Here's a quick run down of the last two-ish days... Two of our flights made it into the gates with no one there to greet us. That was interesting as I thought in the 21st century, planes had ways of communicating with the airport. Kor@an Air is a great airline, with one kaveat...they serve you strongly smelling food at all hours of the night. I was not digging that on lack of sleep. A sandwich would have been lovely. The flight attendants are amazing. They are like Stepford wives. They are all very young and very beautiful, with these ridiculously perky uniforms. And they are always smiling. Even when they rush out to tell people to sit down or deal with some other safety concern, they are so kind and pleasant.
We got into Be!j!ng yesterday evening and were met by a great driver, conveniently driving a new grey Toyota Highlander. I tried to convince him to let me drive since I was already used to the car, but he politely declined. The drive to the hotel was long with lots of traffic. Twenty million people live here. It's so smoggy outside. Our hotel is nice and right downtown.
It's 5:30 AM and we have been awake for hours and are starving. I think we'll venture downstairs for breakfast. Apparently breakfast is the biggest meal of the day here and you need to get the bulk of your veggies through that meal.
PS - JB, Brad says if you were here, he'd go downstairs and order a milkshake.
PPS - Becca, you would not believe the amount of monkey backpacks getting heavy use we've seen so far. We're kinda afraid we're gonna need one at some point on this trip...
Baby bok choy. I couldn't get enough of it. Another tip...write yourblog entry off line inword then log on and copy paste. That way you don't lose all you typed.
