Our Itinerary

We will be headed to three different parts of Ch!n@. First, we land in Be!j!ng, which isn't in a province, but is it's own municipality. We spend three days there, shaking off jet lag, and doing a bit business and sightseeing. We hope to see T!ananmen Square and The F0rbidd@n City the first day, perhaps charter a cab and trek the two hours to see the Gr@at Wall on Friday and then spend a day seeing the wonderful facility where our friends' wonderful daughter lived before she was adopted, Bethel.

I am especially excited to see Bethel, because this marvelous French couple started with a few visually impaired foster kids, grew into a self-sustaining center and now aims to provide training for the caregivers of visually impaired orphans across the globe. And they did this all in volunteer dollars and fundraising. They are truly amazing.

Then on Sunday the 13th, we take a short plane trip to Ta!yuan. It's located in the Shanxi province, which is the equivalent of about here to Chicago. We meet Wen Hong on the 14th (Gotcha Day!) and will have him with us the rest of the time. Fun Fact: the 13th is Wen Hong's third birthday and also Mother's Day. We have lots of paperwork to do that week, and out adoption is final in the province.

Finally on Friday, we fly to Guangzh0u, on the southern coast. This is where the American Consulate is. Brady will have a medical exam on Saturday to check for communicable diseases before he is cleared to fly to the US. We will also fill out the paperwork for his visa. We head home on Thursday the 24th.

Fun Fact: Guangzh0u used to be called Canton and is the part of the country where you will find Cantonese cooking and language spoken.
