What I am is jet lagged. We got Brady sleeping through the night (well until 3:30 or so), but I'm struggling. Our new hotel is beautiful, but it's hard as the bathroom connects to the bedroom with a glass wall, and when someone gets up to use the bathroom at night, the lights go on automatically. So it's kinda bright in here at times. So here I am at 2 AM writing a blog post that I'm not sure will upload because the internet is terrible here (ah for the modern conveniences of Shanghai...)
Today was very busy, hence the lack of blog post earlier. We were up at 4:30 to shower and catch a cab to the airport. It was a 1.5 hour flight to Zhengzhou, Henan. We waited in the airport several hours for the rest of the group to come in form Beijing. Then we boarded two tour busses to head back to our hotel. We had a few minutes to unpack and then the guys were off to exchange money at the bank. We then walked to Walmart to get supplies (buying baby formula in China is more complicated than you'd think...). We hit a Burger King by Walmart because that's all we could find, and ended up eating it in our room at 8:00 PM - our first meal of the day.
Zhengzhou is a huge, bustling, industrial city. We haven't seen much of it, but I can tell you the pollution here is much worse than Shanghai. You can taste it when you breathe.
We have a fantastic group to travel with, and are really appreciating the security you feel when out with a gro. We didn't have that last time as we traveled by ourselves, and thus didn't venture out much.
No other news from the day. Sorry for the lack of pictures. The VPN on my phone isn't working so it takes a couple of steps to transfer pictures to my iPad to blog. Did I mention it's 2 AM?
I'll leave you with what we know from our update on Paul. They say he's the nannies' favorite (they might say that a lot). They say he's a very easy baby - in fact his nanny said she will miss him as he made her job easy. He's smart, and he's a leader to the other babys. And the best? They call him Xiao Pang (sounds like /show/ as in shower, pong as in ping pong). It literally translates into Little Fat. It's a term of endearment because everyone wants fat, healthy babys. I think it's perfect.
We meet him in the morning!
